Programs
and fees at The Meadows
Emergency
Medical Response
Emergency nursing services at The Meadows are
provided by Care Solutions Inc., a Medicare-certified home-health
agency or by any agency of a resident's choosing. Certified aides
and Licensed Nurses are on-campus 24 hours a day and may be called
by Meadows residents in a medical emergency. Any resident requiring
regular home-health services is encouraged to consider the various
assisted living programs located at New Horizons, on the same 40-acre
campus. Easily accessible dialysis care is also available through
Marlborough Hospital, New Horizons' preferred provider, and other
local providers.
Bouvier
Pharmacy
A Marlborough institution, Bouvier Pharmacy operates
a small on-site "apothecary." This convenient little
"general store" also makes it easy for residents to keep their
suites stocked with some of the small necessities of daily life.
In addition, Bouvier fills prescriptions and delivers them right to
resident doors! Most major medical and prescription coverage,
including Medicare, is accepted.
Hearthstone
Alzheimer Care at New Horizons
Hearthstone
at New Horizons is an independently operated program providing residential
and day programs in its own on-campus facility. The caring, gentle
staff offer nationally acclaimed pioneer treatment programs for seniors
with Alzheimer's and other related dementias. Residents receive
the respect and understanding they need and deserve. Through a
well-rounded program, they enjoy delicious meals and snacks, personal
care, and meaningful social and recreational activities tailored to
their interests and abilities. A lovely enclosed outdoor garden
and walking paths are accessible only by Hearthstone residents for their
exclusive enjoyment.
Individuals may reside on-site or live
at home and attend Hearthstone's convenient day program. Some
day-patients of Hearthstone actually live with spouses or other relatives
in other sections of New Horizons or in The Meadows. For more information
about Hearthstone's program, or to arrange a tour, please call Hearthstone's
Program Director at (508) 481-9898.

"The
Cottages"
These
buildings with eight apartments each are located just off the Center
Drive circle, near the main entrance to 400 Hemenway Street. These are
intended particularly for seniors who are very independent. There are
no indoor common areas associated with these units and no organized
activities program. Monthly fees in the cottages are considerably less
than the remaining 130 units in "The Meadows," which are in
two much larger, brand new brick buildings. There is also no required
meals program of any sort in The Cottages, where there is a total of
24 mostly one-bedroom units on two floors.
Fitness
center
The
very large indoor lap pool has full-height windows to the outside on
three sides, and is an important element of fitness at both New Horizons
and The Meadows. In addition to the heated pool, a substantially enlarged
workout room with all the latest exercise equipment and a brand new
aerobics room will each feature daily classes and professional coaching.
A program of regular year-round exercise is a vitally important part
of good health at any age, but especially as we become older.
Summary of Charges at The Meadows
The
Meadows is a senior rental community. Payment of the first month's
Service Fee is required to reserve a suite, but this monthly
service fee is then 100 percent refundable at anytime before move
in. For any reason at all. All residents pay a 100 percent refundable
$30,000 Entrance Fee and furnish a guaranty from a suitable individual,
usually a family member, prior to moving in.
The overall community easily accommodates
multi-generational residencies, especially because programs at New Horizons
tend to be completely separate from those of The Meadows.
Payment of the first Initial Monthly Fee is required
at reservation. Most rates shown for units in The Meadows buildings
include a full American-style breakfast every morning for one resident.
Dinner meal may also be selected on either an every day or an occasional
basis. Also included in the rate for all Meadows units are heating and
hot water, as well as all maintenance, parking, snow removal, etc. There
is no extra charge for more than one person occupying the same unit
of The Meadows, other than the cost for any meals selected.
The
monthly fee for apartments at The Meadows begins at just $1,070 for
a very comfortable one-bedroom apartment with a full kitchen and no
meals included. The largest Meadows unit is a fourth-floor suite (Unit
407), facing west, with a large balcony, full kitchen, dining room,
very large living room, a fireplaced office/den and two large bedrooms.
This suite has 2 and 1/2 baths, skylight, and very large walk-in closets.
By way of example, the monthly fee for this 1,990 square foot unit,
with a daily breakfast buffet included, is $3,120.
Fees for all units include heat and
hot water, but electricity is separately metered. Our complex is required
by the city of Marlborough to include daily breakfast (for one person)
within the rate for all units in 370 and 420 Hemenway Street buildings,
but not in the buildings at 380, 382 and 384 Hemenway Street. Residents
in these three buildings, however, may contract for breakfast at a flat
rate of $225 per month, per resident, or for the evening dinner meal
at $450.
Residents
in 370 or 420 may add the dinner meal at a cost of $450 per month, or
they may drop breakfast (which is currently served in 370) and replace
it with dinner (which is served in the dining room at 420) at an additional
cost of $225 per resident, per month. Individual dinner meals are available
for residents and guests at a flat rate of $20 per person (with no gratuities
permitted).

Prospective New Horizons residents who
are considering assisted living services or modified independent living
services (including three gourmet meals daily plus housekeeping, activities
and many other services) are invited to view information about New Horizons
at www.cummings.com, or call 508-460-5000.
